A Scientist’s View of Chiropractic
September 15, 2003

Dear Doctor:

Those who attended one of this quarter’s MVP seminars were treated to an exceptional presentation by Bruce Lipton PhD, a cell biologist and ex-medical school professor who has applied his studies in cell membrane physiology to demonstrate the validity of chiropractic and the pitfalls and fallacies of the allopathic model.

You can download his articles and buy his first rate materials at brucelipton. com, and I strongly recommend that you expose yourself to his work. It will increase your confidence by showing irrefutably how the chiropractic “inside-out” approach is more consistent with the reality of healing and wellness than the “outside-in” efforts of organized health. As a progressive scientist, his ideas will both inspire your right brain and satisfy your left brain, as his seminars and products are rich with illustrations, insights and biological proofs of the chiropractic message.

Perhaps the most serious problem chiropractors have to deal with is low self esteem — too many chiropractors lack certainty about the chiropractic premise, often because chiropractic philosophy was de-emphasized in their educations. Dr. Lipton debunks the medical myth with dexterity, punching holes in the very foundations of medical dogma, and showing how D. D. Palmer had it right before anyone else was advanced enough to recognize it.

I truly admire non-chiropractors who objectively conclude in favor of the natural rightness of chiropractic. Staunch champions like Kent Greenawalt of Foot Levelers and Bill Esteb of Patient Media have thrown the full weight of their time, energy and capital behind helping chiropractic to assume its rightful position in society. I could only hope that chiropractors themselves would develop the passion, the depth of understanding and the willingness to go the extra mile that these outstandingly intelligent and productive loyalists continue to show.

One of the most important aspects of Dr. Lipton’s research is the impact of perception and belief on an individual’s opportunity for health and wellness. Most of our neighbors have grown up with medical backgrounds, with little or no exposure to the reasoning that underlies chiropractic. Supporters like Lipton, Greenawalt and Esteb have overcome the powerful popular misconceptions about chiropractic and broken through to a profound awareness about the role of chiropractic in our culture, and they are dedicated to playing their part in that unfoldment.

By comparison, many of us coast or expect others to do the work of positioning chiropractic in our communities. Doctors, please wake up and carefully examine the sociopolitical landscape in our profession, and become involved so your voice is heard. This is a critical time in our evolution, and it’s no time to wait for someone else to lead the way. Take action, and promote chiropractic with enthusiasm and congruency — not only will it build your practice, but it will add your contribution to the wellness movement that is destined to rescue the world and make it safe for our children’s children.
