Years ago, one of our members recommended a book to me, "Message Of A Master" by John McDonald. I saw it at the bookstore, but for whatever reason wasn’t inspired to pick it up. Shortly thereafter, I did buy a copy, browsed through it, but didn’t read it.
Packing for the San Francisco MVP, I spotted it on my bookshelf, and for the first time felt compelled to look at it. Settling into my seat on the plane, I reached for it, and wow, was I pleasantly surprised!
Apparently, the publisher, Marc Allen of the New World Library, was approached some ten years ago by a truck driver who was delivering a truckload of books. This book, then out of print, was his favorite, and when Allen read through the old, well-worn copy, he was blown away by its simplicity, usefulness and power.
Written in 1929, a pivotal year in American finance and somewhat before the Napoleon Hill research, "Message Of A Master" is a story of a man who seeks to learn the secrets of wealth and abundance, and his pursuit of a mysterious Master who was the source of this information. Spelled out with absolute clarity throughout these pages is the bare and simple methodology for creating prosperity, stated so plainly that it will seem too obvious for most to recognize its immense scope — that by developing certainty in your outcome, by visualizing in infinitesimal detail and with unwavering focus the realization of that dream, turning on the vast power of the Inner Mind, by improving yourself and by trusting and believing without resistance, allowing the actions and circumstances required to manifest as they will, you can expect to generate that outcome or something better.
Seventy-five years ago, this was true and it is true today, though many of us fight it, defaulting to the notion that we must work only within rational borders and honor the guidelines of logic and the left brain. But creativity lives elsewhere in us, and the theories in "Message Of A Master‘ are not only uplifting and motivating, they are time-tested across four generations of achievement, supported by Hill’s ’Laws of Success‘ and ’Think and Grow Rich,‘ and other work that points at the involvement of higher powers in the attraction of wealth and abundance. Even more modern writing, like the classic ’Dynamic Laws of Prosperity‘ by Catherine Ponder, ’The Abundance Book‘ by John Randolph Price, and ’Creating Affluence‘ or ’The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success" by Deepak Chopra, brings forth the same philosophy — that by clarifying our vision and turning loose the immeasurably enormous potential in our higher selves, we can live consistently with our most elaborate and fulfilling fantasies.
Paying the price of focus, belief and willingness to follow through seems like a reasonable investment for ultimate happiness — yet, many are not convinced, as is evident in their behavior. Ironically, it turns out to be a matter of choice, not chance, as to who gets the good life. Choose to learn more about these ideas and concepts, and you, too, will be in position to reap the rewards that are only too available for your pleasure.
