Dear Doctor:
There was a baseball pitcher who was undefeated in six games this year in his home stadium, and had beaten the team he was facing all five times he pitched against them. Sounds like a lock that he would win, right?
Well, not this time – he was soundly thrashed, which proves out an important fundamental belief in sports – on any given day, any team could prevail. That’s why they play the games – the “best” team doesn’t always win. It’s so essential to remain present, and to bring your best performance to whatever you do – you never know when it’s your turn in the sun, so you’d better be ready when the opportunity arises.
Working with chiropractors every day, I get to see the breakthroughs that occur, often after many months or years of consistent great effort. I can’t really explain why sometimes it takes longer, but it’s the same as with that team that had never emerged victorious from a single encounter with that particular pitcher – every dog has his day, and you can tip the laws of probability, if you do your part.
Tony Robbins taught me that the past doesn’t equal the future, and this is a necessary perspective if you plan on overcoming previous limitations. So what if you haven’t accomplished something yet -- if that were a hard-wired restriction, then no one would ever grow or progress. You must understand that God’s delays are not God’s denials, and that when the time is right, if you persist and keep growing, improving, and capitalizing on your chances as they come up, you will indeed maneuver into a better position, and increase the likelihood of winning.
No doubt you’ve heard about those in a boat on a winding river, afraid they would never find their destination, but they persevered, until magically, around what seemed like the thousandth bend in their course, they finally discovered what they were looking for, though it couldn’t be seen from the tortuous path that led to it. Such is the nature of success, and the delightfully offbeat sense of humor we find in Fate.
Check yourself from the inside out – are you acting in harmony with your highest purpose? Are your ethics and integrity demonstrated in your behaviors? Are you willing to do whatever it takes to follow through on what you’ve started? If so, then no matter how long a road you travel, you will arrive at precisely the right time, in exactly the right way, to make the most of yourself and reach the potential you always knew you had.
