A Holiday Gift For Your Community
November 28, 2005

Dear Doctor:

While some chiropractors erroneously think that their patients and prospective patients are otherwise engaged in the month of December, the statistics demonstrate the opposite – after analyzing countless monthly reports over the last twenty years, I can say with certainty that December is one of the busiest months of the year.

People are on the move. They realize that they are stressed by all the extra activity, and they clearly see the logic of a “tune-up” to assure peak performance throughout the holiday season. Others begin to fold under the pressure, requiring emergency intervention to be able to follow through on their plans. Still others want to give the gift of health, generously buying a ticket to ride for their loved ones to experience the miraculous healing benefits chiropractic is famous for.

The only things preventing these people from flowing into your office, as they are flowing into offices throughout the profession, are your beliefs about their availability, and the actions you take, based on those beliefs. Here are a few pointers to help you capitalize on the opportunities of the season.

First, examine your own expectations, and get a reality check. Do you feel distracted or overwhelmed yourself? You may be projecting your feelings on those around you – if so, stop it. Adjust your thinking toward efficient use of your own resources, and develop a sense of optimism and positive expectancy about serving your constituency.

Then, once you’ve manifested an appropriately receptive state, concentrate on the types of people you enjoy serving, and where they are likely to be found. By increasing your visibility in these locations, first in your imagination and then by using a mailing, holiday present, personal visitation, promotion, newspaper column or ad, screening, lecture or by networking with strategic alliances, you can position yourself properly and display your wares for a responsive population that is already in a buying mode.

‘Tis the season to be jolly, and it’s also the season to be well and enjoy every bit of it. Reset your own attitude to become more attractive, and act constructively on your own behalf to increase your capacity so you can spread the word of health and wellness, and you’ll be giving a holiday gift to your sphere of influence, the likes of which they have never before seen, and the impact of which will change their lives forever.
