Dear Doctor:
As we approach the end of 2007, it’s time to make an objective assessment of our performance throughout the year. There’s no need to be overly lenient or harsh, but rather to get a realistic impression of what happened this year, what didn’t happen, and what you may need to do in 2008 to address some of the shortfall, or reproduce and enhance the victories.
To get started, you must be present and aware – it’s only possible to analyze the results if you are awake and sincere in your intention to evaluate your showing accurately. This is not a time for excess emotion – instead, detach from the feelings and see if you can tally the scores without becoming too wrapped up in them. They are effects, and you want to intervene at the cause level. Just monitor them precisely and get a jumping off point to set up the remainder of this process.
Next, remember to be grateful for all the good stuff, your blessings, serendipitous occurrences and positive outcomes in response to your hard work. It was your co-creation energy that attracted the goals you hit and the opportunities that manifested, so being thankful is definitely in order.
The next part of this system is to establish a sense of certainty about what didn’t go as well as expected, and what elements led to that situation. Some aspects may have been at least apparently beyond your control, and if so, then prepare the best you can to deal with adversities like those, but your best bet is to stay focused on things you can do something about. You’ll find that there will be several or numerous observations you could make that will lead you to improved strategies, both at the BE and DO levels, and these golden nuggets will repay you multifold for mining them.
Finally, lovingly decide where to invest your power, so you can handle the setbacks well and plan your success with the joy and pleasure you’d prefer to be reflected in the process – where do you think it comes from if not you? This is an often-overlooked secret the highly successful already comprehend – that bathing your expectations in love, correcting your course with self-esteem instead of disdain, can be a missing link in building your most fulfilling lifestyle and optimal prosperity.
Now, if you’re paying attention (and if you’re a fan of Dr. John Demartini,) you probably recognize these concepts as the Four Cardinal Pillars of Healing – presence, gratitude, certainty and love. And after all, isn’t what we are attempting to do here a form of healing, where you apply global healing ideas to your practice and life to make them naturally right?
This is an invitation to take responsibility for your life and your productivity in your work. This is not about blame, it’s about realizing that you have vast tools and resources available to you, and only you can decide how to use them. There are no free rides, but this is a winnable game, and with the stakes so high, it’s good to know you have Four Aces – you can Assess the situation, Appreciate what you have, Adjust accordingly, and Adore the challenges of real success. Now that’s playing to win!
