Dear Doctor:
Last weekend I had the delightful experience of attending the Northwestern
Health Sciences University Homecoming with my esteemed partner Dr. Bob Hoffman.
I have to confess that I knew little about NWCC prior to this visit, and I found
the faculty, administration, campus and morale of all concerned, including the
students and the returning alumni, to be top shelf. I wondered how they could
have flown below my radar for all these years, and it made me think of other
“best kept secrets” in and around our profession that could be of significant
value if more people knew about them.
There are numerous focused seminars designed around self-discovery, growing
chiropractors and other participants from the inside out – of note are “The
Academy for Creativity and Innovation Leadership” conducted by Michael Gelb,
“Inside The Dreaming Room” taught by Michael Gerber, “The Cabin Experience”
offered by Dr. Larry Markson, and of course the grand-daddy of them all, “Date
With Destiny,” the brainchild of Tony Robbins. Events like these are meant to
concentrate on personal growth and development, each with its own twist, and
quite worthy of your attention.
There has been so much progress in various chiropractic techniques and the
assorted ancillary approaches that whirl around them, it’s hard to keep track,
but the savvy chiropractor does everything possible to stay current in the field
of healing. Don’t look past the profound impact of teachers like Dr. Morter
(BEST,) Dr. Versendaal (CRA,) Dr. Koren (KST,) Dr. Doreste (Cranial Release
Technique,) Dr. Epstein (Network Spinal Analysis and Reorganizational Healing)
and Dr. Davis (Natural Force Healing) – among others, these researchers are
making a meaningful contribution to the greater good, yet many chiropractors are
unfamiliar with these advances in healing.
And how about the explosion in patient education technology? It would be such a
huge asset in most doctors’ offices to install a Brican system from Laurent
Goldstein, or Peter and Steve Madnick’s Health Visions kiosk, or Bill Esteb’s
Patient Media concepts, or Rob Jackson’s Back Talk materials, or some of Bruce
Goldsmith’s excellent Visual Odyssey equipment, each significant in its own
right. These all help to convey the chiropractic message to your patients, who
so sorely need to understand why they are in your office, and how they and their
loved ones benefit from your services. Such new communication methodologies are
stunning in their impact, yet simple in their application, and many practicing
doctors may be unaware of these important strides in patient orientation and
compliance.
One more “best kept secret” worth mentioning here is TMCtv, the online
television station that brings the finest presenters in chiropractic to your
home or office computer. Actual Masters Circle seminars are filmed, edited and
produced into entertaining and relevant shows that any chiropractor can learn
from and enjoy, with many of the abovementioned experts already playing on
demand, worldwide, 24/7/365. It’s the cutting edge of professional edutainment,
and hardly anyone knows about it yet.
Chiropractors are known for finding the interface between the traditional and
the modern, and these ideas will help you explore your own growing edge. Check
out some of these best kept secrets – it will shorten your learning curve and
expand your imagination so you can grow faster and better.
