The second half is a fresh slate, a brand new set of opportunities to move
yourself and your practice to a new level of accomplishment. Everything that has
happened so far, like it or not, is part of the process of getting to where you
want to be – now, seize control, decide what you really want, and use the tools
and gifts you have available to make something happen.
Analyze your practice statistics – where are the weaker areas? Do you run a
solid practice procedurally, but need to put more energy into attracting new
people to serve? Develop a marketing plan, with specific goals set for each
effort you make, so you can calibrate the results, learn from them and shift
your marketing toward more effectiveness.
Are you attracting new patients at a satisfactory clip, but they don’t tend to
stick around long enough to get full benefit from your services? Check your PVA
Skills (Pages 215-230) – if your PVA is in the low teens, check your report of
findings. If it’s in the low twenties, check your patient education. If it’s in
the low thirties, check your re-exam system. If it’s in the high thirties or low
forties, check your recall system. Is collections a problem? Look at your
policies, and make sure they’re being enforced.
Everything that happens in your practice can be evaluated, understood and
learned from. Those who are willing to investigate, not emotionally but
rationally, can discover a world of feedback from statistics. Take your printed
stats, call into Open Consulting, and get some coaching on your weaker areas –
it will make a huge difference when you know where your energy is best invested.
