Chiropractic Practice Management: How to Go From Good to Great in 3 Simple Moves

Welcome to this week’s Thrive in Five. I’m Dr. Bob Hoffman for The Master Circle Global, where we build the most successful practices through chiropractic coaching. Today, we’re going to discuss how to go from good practice to a great practice by making a few simple changes. We’re going to discuss a colleague’s practice who took the time to complete the practice growth calculator. This doctor’s name is Brian and Brian has a good practice. He attracts 20 new patients a month, has a PVA of 26 and an OVA of $42,30. Now, he tells us he wants to grow 20%. And he also tells me that his greatest skill is his people skills. Some of our colleagues like a small and modest practice or that’s all they can handle it this time and I’m not here to judge them about that. What I can tell you is that each and every one of us have been called into healing others through chiropractic and serving patients every single day, week, and month. And serving more of them is far more consistent with our calling and allows each and every one of us to make a big difference with our lives. When we go back to Brian’s statistics, 20 new patients times of PVA of 26 is going to generate 520 visits a month. And 520 visits a month times, his OVA of $42,30 generates a monthly income of $22,000.

Now, if I were coaching Brian, I would like to improve all three of these stats, but improve each just a little and let’s see what happens. I would push for one more new patient a week bringing his new patient total from 20 a month to just 24. I would also train him on how to grow his compliance and retention from a PVA of 26 to 30. And I would also find ethical ways to grow his OVA from $42,30 to just $45 for now. These are three simple and easy to improve things that will now produce 720 visits a month, a growth of over 200 visits and produce an income of $32,400 a month, an increase of $10,400 a month. Yes, I know it’s hard for some of us to believe how three small incremental improvements will increase someone’s annual income by $124,800 and cost nothing to accomplish.
